What to do with The Bay? Public information session set for Thursday night

Heritage Calgary and the Calgary Downtown Association are hosting a public meeting Thursday evening to talk about what to do with the Bay building.

There will be a panel discussion starting at 6 p.m., with audience questions and commentary afterward.

The Bay opened in 1913 and closed its doors for good in June 2025.

In October 2025, the National Trust for Canada added the building to its “endangered places list” with a ranking of “immediate threat,” but despite that, it lacks specific heritage designation protecting it from demolition or significant alteration.

The meeting is at the Hudson event centre, at 200 8th Ave. S.W.

Admission is $10 for adults and free for students.
