The community of Claresholm unofficially has a new town councillor. Perry Pelletier won the southern Alberta town’s byelection to fill the vacant role with 487 votes. Diana Ross has 142 ballots cast for her. The vote was held Monday. Voter turnout was approximately 21 per cent, and results become official Friday at noon. The byelection was to replace former councillor Craig Zimmer, who resigned in June. Pelletier, who is a former RCMP member of 40 years, is set to join Mayor Brad Schlossberger and councillors Kieth Carlson, David Knox, Rod Kettles, Kandice Meister and Seth Wagner.
