‘Fatal altercation’ involving man and woman in Edgemont prompts police probe

Police were called to the Calgary community of Edgemont on Friday afternoon to investigate a “fatal altercation.”

According to police, a man “in medical distress” and an injured woman were discovered around 4:15 p.m. in the basement of a home in the 0 to 100 block of Edgemont Court N.W.

Officers were initially sent there “for reports of an altercation inside a residence.”

The man, in his 40s, died at the scene.

The woman, in her 30s, was taken to hospital, and police say her condition is stable.

Police say no one is in custody in connection with this incident, nor is anyone being sought.

Investigation into exactly what occurred is ongoing.

Police initially referred to the incident as an “undetermined death.”

As of Friday night, they were calling it a “fatal altercation.”
