Two with minor injuries after house fire in southeast Calgary

Fire crews responded to a blaze in the southeast community of Radisson Heights on Monday afternoon.

Emergency responders say two people are being treated for minor injuries after a fire broke out at a home in southeast Calgary.

Fire crews were called to a home in the 2600 block of 11 Avenue S.E. just around 4:40 p.m. Monday for a report of a fire at a home in the community of Albert Park/Radisson Heights.

Residents of the area reported hearing pops and bangs from the blaze as well as flames 30 to 40 feet above the roof at a home that was burned down to its frame.

Fire crews say residents in neighbouring properties and their pets were evacuated from their homes, but they were allowed back inside before 6 p.m.

EMS says one person was taken to an urgent care centre for minor burn injuries and another was taken to the Peter Lougheed Centre in stable condition for non-life-threatening injuries.

It’s not immediately clear what the cause of the fire is and fire crews remained on scene Monday evening to investigate.
