Here’s a look at what’s open and closed in Calgary on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, on Wednesday, Sept. 30. Orange Shirt Day Ceremony The City of Calgary will host an Orange Shirt Day Ceremony from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at The Confluence Historic Site and Parkland. The program features keynote speakers, remarks from the Mayor, a moment of silence and cultural performances. In addition, the following structures will be lit orange in honour of National Truth and Reconciliation Day: Calgary Transit Calgary Transit will be operating on a modified Saturday level of service on Wednesday. Parking No payment is required for on-street parking in ParkPlus zones on Wednesday, and weekend rates will be in effect at all Calgary Parking Authority parkades and surface lots. Regular rates will be in effect at the Calgary Zoo, Telus Spark, Heritage Park and Stampede Park. The City of Calgary’s impound lot will be closed. Arenas, pools and fitness centres City of Calgary arenas, pools and fitness centres will be closed on Wednesday. MaxWell Soccer Centre The MaxWell Soccer Centre will be closed on Wednesday. Leisure centres Southland Leisure Centre will be closed on Wednesday The Village Square Leisure Centre is closed for upgrades and repairs until the end of 2027. City of Calgary art centres The Wildflower Arts Centre and North Mount Pleasant Arts Centre will be closed. Landfills All three Calgary landfills will be open on Wednesday. The East Calgary Landfill will be open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., while the Spyhill and Shepard Landfill will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
