Town of Taber says it has nothing to do with billboard sign fuelling separatism debate

A billboard in the town of Taber is gaining attention for displaying a pro-separatist message that reads, “Send Ottawa a message! Choose Alberta.”

A billboard sign in Taber fuelling the separatism debate in the province continues to gain attention—both positive and negative.

The electronic sign, located off Highway 3, has a display saying, “Send Ottawa a message! Choose Alberta.”

The billboard is authorized by Pathway to Independence and Cory Morgan.

The Town of Taber says the sign is located on property leased from the town by a private business.

The town says the sign itself is privately owned and operated.

In a statement, the town says it “did not create, purchase, approve, endorse or fund the advertisement and does not approve, review, select or control the advertising content displayed on the sign.”

The town says the concerns received from members of the public have been communicated directly to the leaseholder.

CTV News reached out to the owner of the billboard but has not yet heard back.
