Speed linked to deadly rollover in southeast Calgary: police

Calgary police investigate a deadly crash in the 7000 block of 84 Street S.E. shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026.

Calgary police say speed is believed to be a “contributing factor” in a deadly crash in the city’s southeast on Wednesday.

The collision happened in the 7000 block of 84 Street S.E. shortly after 2:30 a.m.

Police say a northbound BMW left the road before rolling into the ditch.

The vehicle continued to roll, eventually coming to rest in the ditch east of 84 Street S.E.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

Calgary police say it’s the fifth traffic fatality in the city so far this year.
