Calgary police investigate after Taradale home shot at twice

A shooting targeting a home in Calgary's northeast might be the latest incident in a spate of extortion attempts.

Calgary police are investigating after shots were fired at the same Taradale home within a matter of days.

Police confirm the home, located in the 0-100 block of Tarawood Lane N.E. was shot at around 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday, and then again on Thursday at 10 p.m.

No one was injured either time.

Officers found several bullet holes in the home on Thursday, but say it was unoccupied.

Police are investigating if the incident is connected to a series of extortion attempts targeting members of Calgary’s South Asian community.

“We understand that this incident is deeply concerning for the community and we are working closely with our policing partners to determine any connection to the ongoing extortion incidents happening here in Alberta and across Canada,” police said in a statement.
