Roughnecks rally late to defeat Philadelphia Wings 10-9 at Saddledome

Riley Loewen scored 3 goals to lead the Calgary Roughnecks past the Philadelphia Wings Saturday night at the Saddledome.

It took almost three full quarters to take the lead, but once they got it, the Calgary Roughnecks didn’t let up Saturday night, defeating the Philadelphia Wings 10-9.

Early on, the Roughnecks found penalty trouble, which led to the Wings taking a 4-2 lead after one quarter. The Roughnecks got goals from Riley Loewen and Tanner Cook to stay within shouting distance.

Tanner Cook and Loewen scored again to tie it up, and after the Wings took a 5-4 lead, Cook notched his hat trick to send it to the half tied at five apiece.

After both teams scored in the third to keep the contest tight, Haiden Dickson scored with 35 seconds left in the third to give the Roughnecks a 7-6 lead.

In the fourth, Brayden Mayea scored with just over three minutes remaining to provide the final margin.

Loewen led the way for the way for Calgary, with three goals and three assists. Tanner Cook had a hat trick and an assist, and Tyler Pace had a goal and three assists.

Aden Walsh stopped 35 shots in goal for the Roughnecks, picking up his second win of the season.

The Roughnecks are back in action Sunday night at the Saddledome when they take on the Georgia Swarm in a 6 p.m. start.
