Redwood Meadows Emergency Services launch fundraising campaign to replace equipment lost in fire

The back hall of the Redwood Meadows Emergency Services fire hall burned down Dec. 17, 2025.

Redwood Meadows Emergency Services (RMES) revealed the cause of a fire that destroyed the fire station’s back hall Wednesday.

“A third party fire investigator was engaged to determine the cause of our back hall fire,” the group posted on social media. “The investigation is ongoing, but it has been determined to be accidental, with a possibility of electrical involvement.”

The organization lost a substantial amount of equipment in the fire, which destroyed the entire back hall.

“The building contained equipment used to support emergency responses, including 120 Engine, a 120 Tender, a bush buggy, a Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) , and SCBA air bottle refilling station.

“Other known losses include the emergency equipment on the trucks, additional emergency equipment, extra firefighting gear, training equipment communications equipment, inventory for our command and logistics centre, RMES’ Training Centre and the member gym.”

They said the front hall, which houses 220 Engine, 120 Rapid Response, 120 Rescue, gear and offices wasn’t impacted.

They said insurance will replace some of what was lost but not all and are launching a fundraising effort to re-equip.

“RMES is used to being the ‘helpers’, not asking for help,” they posted. “We are humbly asking for our community’s support to help us rebuild what was lost in the back hall fire.”
