A newly named park in Bridgeland Riverside honours the legacy of a longtime resident. Helen Jusic gained local and national recognition during the COVID-19 pandemic. She stood at the corner of first Avenue and 12th Street N.E., waving and greeting all Calgarians, helping to raise their spirits. You can find Helen’s Garden near Bishops Manor Residence, east of 11A Street at Colonel Baker Place N.E. The park was formally named by the City of Calgary in 2023 at the request of the Bridgeland Riverside Community Association as a way to honour her kindness. Helen died in 2023. She also volunteered for several neighbourhood agencies after returning from the Calgary General Hospital.
