Police in Calgary have seized more than $1.2 million in drugs and another $1 million in cash from a house in the community of Skyview Ranch. Members of the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) searched the home on July 30, with help from Calgary police and RCMP. “ALERT identified the home as part of a drug trafficking investigation that also involved our Lethbridge team,” said Staff Sgt. Hayley Marquis. “Back in May 2026, four kilograms of cocaine was seized in Lethbridge, and our investigators believe that the Lethbridge suspects arrested were being supplied by Calgary-based drug traffickers.” Two other homes – located in Harvest Hills and Rocky Ridge – were also searched, and two vehicles. The drugs seized include: Marquis says police also seized a Taser and tracking devices. She says there were also “two underage children” at one of the homes. Marquis says it’s a “significant seizure” – calling it a “huge win” for ALERT and police in Alberta in general. Largest cash seizure: ALERT At over $1 million, Marquis says cash seizure is believed to be the largest amount of cash seized in a single instance by ALERT. She says showcasing a seizure with this amount of cash isn’t meant to glamourize criminal lifestyles. “In fact, it’s just the opposite,” she said. “We are demonstrating that investigators will exhaust all options to take profit out of organized crime. This involves seizing cash, seizing vehicles and even seizing homes – anything that is related to the drug trade.” Charges laid Two people are facing charges. Kerry Lu, 36, is charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime and possession of a prohibited weapon. Donald Ng, 51, is charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime and possession of a prohibited weapon.
