Millions of lights on display inside Calgary’s BMO Centre for Holiday Wonder

Holiday Wonder is the newest Christmas event in Calgary, featuring millions of lights set up inside the BMO Centre.

Calgary families looking to get into the holiday spirit can enjoy a brand-new light display at the BMO Centre.

Holiday Wonder features more than a million lights set up inside the exhibition hall for guests to wander through and enjoy.

But there is much more, organizers say.

“It’s not simply just a light show,” said Anil Permaul, Holiday Wonder’s show director.

“There’s a lot of activities and things to do as well.”

Children and families can also visit with Santa, play in his workshop and enjoy colouring and crafts.

One of the top features is a life-sized gingerbread house, designed by Calgary home builder Anthem and created by local bakery Chartier.

The company says hundreds of pounds of gingerbread was used to build the marvel.

“The whole house has been decorated, inside and out, you can walk through it and there’s some secrets in there, too,” Permaul said.

Another feature of Holiday Wonder is the “snow zone.”

“It’s a giant snowball fight arena that you get to go in and throw snowballs inside,” Permaul said.

Permaul said it took 16 crew members 30 days to set up all the rigging and custom builds for the show.

“We’re excited for Calgarians to come and check it out,” Permaul said.

Tickets for Holiday Wonder, which runs from Nov. 27 to Jan. 3, 2026, are available online.
