Man assaulted behind Forest Lawn pub; police tap public in search for suspect

Calgary police say a man was assaulted while sitting behind a Forest Lawn pub with two women and a dog.

It happened around 6:45 p.m. on May 30, in the 4200 block of 17 Avenue S.E.

According to police, an unknown man came up to the group and physically assaulted the victim.

Police say one of the women intervened to help the victim, causing the attacker to flee, but the victim was left in critical condition.

Police say the victim has since recovered to the point he’s been released from hospital.

Almost three weeks after the incident, police say the attacker remains at large.

It’s not believed the attacker and victim know each other, police say.

Police do have CCTV footage of the person they believe to be the attacker and on Thursday made images available.

Their suspect is described as being about 30 years of age.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black baseball hat, a red hoodie with “Hustle Gang” printed on the front, black pants and black Nike runners with a red swoosh.

He was also carrying a black backpack.
