It looks like defenceman MacKenzie Weegar is heading to the Utah Mammoth. Rumours were out there that the Calgary Flames and Utah could be making a deal, with several reports saying the Flames were trading one of their top defencemen. Weegar has been a solid player for the Flames since arriving a few years back. Elliotte Friedman was the first to report that the Flames had a deal in place to send Weegar to the Mammoth, but it had to be approved by the veteran defenceman, who had a full no-trade clause, and Weegar approved it late Wednesday afternoon. In return, the Flames are getting veteran defenceman in Olli Maatta, three 2026 second-round draft picks and prospect Jonathan Castagna. The NHL trade deadline is on Friday.
