Kimberley remains under evacuation alert as cluster of fires burn west of city

The city of Kimberley, B.C. remains under evacuation alert due to the nearby Bootleg Complex of wildfires, including a cluster of fires burning west of the city.

Incident commander Hugh Murdoch says there are seven fires that firefighters are closely watching in the region.

He says the fire behaviour “has been held in check for the most part.”

But Murdoch says the weather forecast “is far from favourable,” with no rain and temperatures above seasonal.

The fires near Kimberley are among about 90 blazes across B.C.
