A Calgary Flames T-shirt, created to commemorate the team’s 2004 Stanley Cup run, is on sale once again to support children in sports. The “Hangin’ in the Dome, Chillin’ with Jarome” shirt is a nod to the era when retired NHLer Jarome Iginla led the team. When it was first released, a portion of sales went to Kidsport Calgary, an organization that helps children in Alberta participate in athletics without worrying about financial barriers. This week, local clothing company C of Dead, re-released the shirt for Kidsport’s 30th anniversary. The shop has a goal of $10,000 for the campaign, though much of the effort will be through online sales and not along the Red Mile on 17 Avenue. “Back then, that’s how we sold almost all of the T-shirts. Vibe 98.5 had a van and people would just come up with $20 bills,” said creator James McCreath. “(It was) such an awesome experience and Jarome has been involved with Kidsport for such a long time, so it was just this awesome partnership.” The shirt features a childhood image of Jarome playing hockey with the shirt’s creators in St. Albert. It is available on the C of Dead website.
