Installation, market at Southcentre Mall for National Indigenous History Month

Calgary’s Southcentre Mall and Authentically Curated have partnered again for National Indigenous History Month.

Tuesday saw the start to “an immersive digital storytelling and video installation” titled THE DOOR(S).

Visitors can find the installation at the Sporting Life Court, Southcentre Mall said in a release issued on Tuesday morning.

This is the sixth time Southcentre Mall and Authentically Curated have partnered.

Melrene Saloy-EagleSpeaker of Authentically Curated said it allows people “to engage with and learn from Indigenous perspectives.”

THE DOOR(S) runs through June 23.

On its website, Southcentre Mall said the installation “invites guests to step into moments of reflection, discovery and learning.”

“Each door becomes an entry point into a deeper conversation about perspective, memory, identity, and the stories that shape us,” Southcentre Mall said.

Alexandra Velosa, Southcentre Mall’s marketing manager, said June offers “an important opportunity to come together in the spirit of learning, reflection and shared understanding.”

Also for National Indigenous History Month, Southcentre Mall will host an Indigenous artisan market from June 12 to 14.

A rotating lineup of Indigenous vendors and creators as well as live cultural performances and community programming will be featured throughout that weekend.

The market will also be at the Sporting Life Court.
