The Calgary Hitmen made a bold trade Friday, acquiring the rights to Seattle Thunderbird forward Theo Stockselius in exchange for a bundle of draft picks. Stockselius, who was the Flames’ second round pick in this year’s NHL draft, comes to Hitmen while the Thunderbirds receive a 2027 fourth round pick in the WHL prospects draft, a conditional pick in the first and sixth round of the 2026 draft and a conditional fifth round pick in 2029. Stockselius is currently playing in Sweden. Last season, he had 22 goals and 29 assists in 40 games for Djurgarden IF J20. He also played for Sweden in international competition, scoring five goals and nine assists for 14 points in 23 games, and helping the club win a silver medal at the 2025 U18 World Championships.
