Driver seriously hurt after crashing into Airdrie Shopper’s Drug Mart

A driver was taken to hospital after crashing into a Shopper’s Drug Mart in Airdrie, police said.

Airdrie RCMP said a Ford Escape crashed into the corner of the building, located at 1200 Market Street S.E., at 8:45 a.m.

Police say the driver was westbound on Yankee Valley Boulevard when they lost control, crossed the road and hit the store.

The driver suffered serious injuries in the crash. No one inside the store was hurt, but the business was heavily damaged.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
