David Beckham and son get away to Fernie’s Island Lake Lodge

One of the United Kingdom’s most recognizable celebrities has been hitting the slopes in the Canadian Rockies.

David Beckham has been shredding the backcountry at Island Lake Lodge in the Fernie, B.C., area with his son Romeo, and he recently shared photos and videos of the getaway on social media.

The former soccer star has been doing well on his snowboard despite taking a bit of a “snow shower” on camera.

Island Lake Lodge offers Catskiing—where a Cat vehicle drives people up the mountain.

Beckham calls the spot “one of his favourite places to be.”

“Every year, I try to take four days in the mountains in Fernie,” he wrote on Instagram.

“Thank you to everyone at (Island Lake Lodge) for always making it so special.”

Island Lake Lodge is about a dozen kilometres from Fernie.

The luxury backcountry facility said in its Monday conditions report, “A cheeky 10 cm top-up overnight refreshed the skiing yet again.”

“Strong winds and poor visibility in the alpine kept us skiing amongst the trees,” it read.

“The cool temperatures persisted longer than we anticipated. Let’s hope it keeps doing that.”
