Calgary will get a one-day break from the heat this week. Thursday will come with a bit of a cool down, thanks to a gusty, cool wind out of the north that will bring winds up to 50 km/h throughout the morning. This will put us at a daytime high of 22C. The air quality should be good throughout the day in Calgary, but by Thursday night, some smokier air will start to creep in. By Thursday night in the city we will likely make our way to “moderate” on the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI), and by Friday, we might shuffle back and forth from “moderate” to “high”. The heat will build back in for Friday and Saturday, then Sunday will be cooler again with the risk of thunderstorms.
