Connect with non-profits at Calgary Volunteer Fair

If you’re looking to gift some time and some hustle to help, there’s a chance to connect with not-for-profit organizations coming up.

Sixty-five charities will be set up at the University of Calgary’s downtown campus on April 23 for the Calgary Volunteer Fair.

The free event is in its fifth year and is itself a volunteer-run endeavour.

It aims to “help Calgarians find their perfect volunteer opportunity.”

Fair president Alexandra Kryska Grams said in a release volunteering “continues to be an effective way to meaningfully connect with community, combat social isolation and increase sense of well-being.”

She said this is “in the face of challenges such as the rising cost of living and the increasing loneliness epidemic.”

The fair is supported by Volunteer Alberta, the provincial government and the Calgary Foundation.

Volunteer Alberta has named the fair a National Volunteer Week feature site.

National Volunteer Week is April 19-25.

The fair runs from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 23.

The University of Calgary’s downtown campus is located at 906 8 Ave. S.W.
