Calgary’s diversity celebrated at festival in northeast

Hundreds of people celebrated Calgary diversity at a festival in the northeast on Thursday hosted by The Immigration Education Society, or TIES.

Hundreds of people gathered to celebrate Calgary’s diversity at Westwinds in the city’s northeast on Thursday.

The Immigration Education Society, or TIES, hosted the get together.

The festival included ethnic performances, talent and fashion shows, an art exhibition, an entrepreneurs market -- and of course, plenty of food.

Organizers say the 14th annual event is an opportunity for community connection.

Organizers hope events like this will help what many feel is a growing anti-immigrant sentiment.
