Calgary to see warm weather Friday and Saturday, then a cooldown Sunday

Storm system moves out, clear skies ahead. Jodi Hughes has a look at the five-day forecast from the Sky Watch Weather Centre.

Thursday will be mild with a mix of sun and cloud across southern Alberta.

Calgary’s daytime high is expected to peak at 7 C, compared to the normal high of 10 C.

Strong westerly flow will push temperatures up to 14 C for Friday and Saturday, before another quick cooldown on Sunday.

A low-pressure system is expected to collide with that warmer air mass late on Saturday and introduce a brief period of instability across the region.

Rain will transition to snow along the foothills overnight, with some precipitation expected in the Calgary area.

Surface temperatures will be warm after those two days of double-digit highs, so any snow that does fall in Calgary is not likely to accumulate on roadways.

Sunday’s high in Calgary will hit around 5 C before another jump back to double digits on Monday.
