Calgary police are bidding farewell to a four-legged member of the force. Calibri (Cali), a black Labrador retriever, worked with the Calgary Police Service for almost eight years but is now retiring. Cali joined the victim assistance support team in 2018 after two years of training and certification through the Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS). “She has brought comfort and calm to victims, families, witnesses and CPS members during some of their hardest moments,” police said in a Friday social media post. “Together with her handler, she has positively impacted countless Calgarians during her time with the CPS.” Photos show Cali and a fellow PADS dog enjoying piece of a bone-shaped cake at her retirement party. “Thank you, Cali, for your compassion, dedication and the support you’ve given to our community and to the Calgary Police Service,” CPS said. “Enjoy your well-earned retirement.”
