Calgary police say investigators are looking for a blue SUV involved in an attempted extortion targeting a South Asian victim last month. Police say the victim, who lives in the northeast community of Saddle Ridge, received threatening messages from an unknown person demanding money on May 10. The suspect also sent a video of a shooting at a business unrelated to the victim as an intimidation tactic. They say the victim contacted police to report the incident. Police add the victim received another message from the suspect that included a video of the victim’s residence while they were speaking with investigators. Police say a review of surveillance footage from the area shows a 2005 to 2006 blue Hyundai Santa Fe that is believed to be involved. Efforts to identify the driver and locate the vehicle have been unsuccessful so far, police say. The vehicle has rust on the rear driver’s side well and red tape on the driver’s side taillight. Anyone with information is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
