Calgary police officer found not guilty on charge of sexual assault

Const. Brandon Kan has been found not guilty of sexual assaulting a woman during a date at his home in 2020.

A Calgary police officer charged with sexual assault has been found not guilty.

A jury delivered the verdict for Const. Brandon Kan on Monday afternoon.

Kan was accused of assaulting a woman during a date at his house in 2020, while he was off duty.

The woman testified while she initially consented to have sex with Kan, she did not agree to several acts forced on her.

The 33-year-old officer testified the sex was all consensual.

Kan has been suspended with pay and police will now review his duty status.
