Calgary police asking for public help to identify suspect in vandalized religious statue investigation

Police in Calgary are asking for the public's help to locate a suspect who they believe vandalized a statue in St. Mary's University on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025.

Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect believed to have vandalized a religious statue at St. Mary’s University.

At around 3 p.m. Monday, police believe the suspect arrived at the St. Mary’s University campus at 14500 Bannister Road S.E. in a silver 2008-2013 Nissan Rogue with a stolen Alberta license plate CGT 4176.

The suspect used a saw to cut off a corner of the bronze sculpture, causing significant damage to the artwork, which is valued at around $30,000.

The suspect loaded the stolen piece of the sculpture into the Nissan and left.

Police are asking for help to identify the suspect and to locate the stolen part of the sculpture.
