It turns out there was an app for making one lucky Calgary Lotto Max player’s dreams come true. German Hernandez Villarrul was at work when he received an email from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) telling him he had a winning ticket -- before he had even checked his tickets. Herandez-Villarrul purchased his ticket on the Lotto Spot app, and it turned out to be a worth a million bucks. “I went into my app, and it said, ‘Winner,’ on this ticket,” he explained. “I even went to the website to match the numbers to the ticket!” Hernandez-Villarrul was in shock. “I had to go into the washroom to calm myself down,” he said. Then he called his wife and told her to come to see him at work so he could break the good news in person. Now that the news has sunk in, he’s planning an extra-special trip to Mexico. “I haven’t visited my family in more than 10 years,” he said. “So, we’re going to visit them in Mexico.” “I also plan to buy a house and use some of the winnings for investments.” Hernanadez-Villarrul’s winning Maximillions ticket was purchased via the Lotto Spot app for the Feb. 27 draw, when his winning numbers were 7, 24, 27, 38, 40, 42 and 49.
