Calgary boxer Kimani ‘The King’ Crawford comes home with a pair of titles

Kimani Crawford took home two belts after a single match against Daniel "The Beast" Beaupre over the weekend.

Kimani “The King” Crawford stepped into the ring on Saturday night in New Brunswick with one thing on his mind.

Crawford went up against Daniel “The Beast” Beaupre in a unified title match.

The winner would take home both the Eastern and Western Canadian professional boxing titles.

Crawford says he was ready. He came away victorious.

“I sacrificed a lot to get here, and that means a lot just to be able to prove that I can stand up on my own in the ring,” said Crawford.

Great off-season

Crawford says Beaupre was a great opponent, but he was able to get the victory in six rounds.

Crawford says it was all in the preparation.

“During my off-season, I stayed healthy,” he said.

“I kept training, and then when I got the call for the fight, that’s when I locked in and I turned up my training to high gear.

“The preparation is what got me the win.”

Boxing has meant a lot

Crawford has a busy schedule. He also competes in bare-knuckle boxing.

The sport helped him get his life back on track, and he says he’s forever grateful and is always learning.

“It’s you versus you,” said Crawford.

“You know you train hard and prepare your body and your mind to go in there for battle.

“It’s all about self-improvement and your growth. Even if you lose, you take that as a learning lesson, and then you come back stronger. Never give up, that’s the motto.”

What’s next?

With the win, “The King” improved to 3-1 as a professional.

The 33-year-old Crawford says winning these two belts is just a sign of things to come.

“We’re going to see how far I can make it. I’m not going to stop,” he said.

“You know, maybe the world championship is up in the future, so you just keep going, and who knows where God will take us.”
