Calgary bar launching spooky Halloween pop-up with cursed cocktails

A tropical Calgary cocktail bar just off 17th Avenue will soon offer Halloween-themed cocktails as part of a frightful fall pop-up.

Ricardo’s Hideaway, in the 1500 block of Fifth Street S.W., will transform into a Halloween haunt with spooky décor and campy music starting Wednesday, Oct. 1.

“It’s like your favourite tropical bar got cursed,” said spokesperson Sam Cook. “Whether you’re creeping in for a cocktail or going all out in costume, ‘Ricardo’s Nightmare Before Christmas’ is the ultimate Halloween hangout.”

The creepy cocktails offered include the Ectoplasm – a genmaicha milk-washed vodka cocktail with sweet potato shōchū and lychee, and the Giallo – made with Irish whiskey, pinot grigio, ambrosia apple and honey.
