Calgary police lay firearms trafficking charges following the 2025 death of Madisson Cobb.

Calgary police have laid firearms charges against two men after uncovering a cache of weapons in an investigation sparked by the death of Madisson Cobb.

Cobb, 23, was shot to death in a parking garage along Macleod Trail S.W. last July.

Her ex-boyfriend, 27-year-old Devon Bradley Malik, was charged with first-degree murder.

Police say shortly after Malik’s arrest, officers recovered the firearm used to kill Cobb, which had a defaced serial number.

The discovery prompted a separate investigation by the Calgary Police Service’s firearms investigative team, resulting in the search of a home in the 2700 block of 16 Avenue S.W. on Feb. 3.

During the search, police say officers seized four rifles, three shotguns, numerous air guns, six prohibited magazines and multiple boxes of ammunition.

A 44-year-old Calgary man is facing several charges including firearms trafficking.

Police say a gun registered to the man, a Norinco 1911A1 handgun with serial number BA25849, “remains outstanding.”

“We are relentless in following the evidence, wherever it leads,” said Staff Sgt. Mike Shute in a Wednesday news release. “Our investigations do not stop when one person is charged. When information indicates others may have played a role, including facilitating access to firearms, we will continue to pursue those connections and hold everyone involved accountable.”

Police are asking anyone who knows the whereabouts of the missing handgun to call them at 403-266-1234.
