Blairmore man arrested for child porn charges a second time: ALERT

A 36-year-old Blairmore man has been arrested and charged with multiple child porn offences, authorities said Thursday, adding this is the second time he’s been caught.

William McQueen was arrested on April 28 after the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team’s (ALERT) Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit conducted a search at his home.

He is charged with possessing, accessing and making available child pornography, as well as multiple firearm offences connected to an improperly stored firearm in his home.

Officials say he was identified as a suspect after authorities followed up on a tip submitted to the RCMP’s national child exploitation centre.

It’s believed he was sharing child sexual exploitation materials on social media applications Discord and Snapchat.

ALERT says McQueen was arrested by ICE for similar offences in October 2019.

He’s since been released from custody on several court-imposed conditions with a promise to appear in court on May 8.
