Alberta man charged in fatal B.C. crash last year

An Alberta man has been charged in connection with a fatal crash on a B.C. highway just over a year ago.

On Feb. 11, 2025, a white Dodge pickup collided with a grey Pontiac hatchback on Highway 3/93 near Pritchard Road, 15 kilometres east of Cranbrook.

Emergency crews attended the scene and pronounced the driver of the Pontiac, a 62-year-old woman from Wardner, B.C., dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck, along with his passenger, were hurt in the crash and taken to hospital.

The highway was closed for several hours following the crash.

The B.C. Highway Patrol investigated the crash and reviewed of witness testimony of the driving behaviour of the Dodge prior to the collision.

On Wednesday, officials announced the driver, a 50-year-old Alberta man, was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.

His first court appearance is scheduled for April 13.
