TORONTO — Canada’s main stock index rose more than 350 points in late-morning trading, helped by gains in the basic materials sector, while U.S. markets also gained ground. The S&P/TSX composite index was up 375.86 points at 35,521.24. In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 202.86 points at 51,434.50. The S&P 500 index was up 30.52 points at 7,795.88, while the Nasdaq composite was up 112.29 points at 27,305.64. The Canadian dollar traded for 70.08 cents US compared with 70.22 cents US on Thursday. The November crude oil contract was up 18 cents US at US$91.67 per barrel.
