Young driver caught driving more than double speed limit on residential road

A Barrie man, 23, was clocked driving at highway speeds on a main residential road.

Barrie police say the man was going 104 kilometres per hour on Essa Road at Ardagh Road.

The speed limit in that area is 50 kilometres per hour.

The man has been charged with stunt driving and speeding.

In addition, he is facing a 30-day driver’s licence suspension and a 14-day vehicle impoundment.
