A Penetanguishene woman, 34, allegedly maneuvered dangerously to avoid a R.I.D.E. check. Police say they were doing a R.I.D.E. program on Wednesday night at around 11:30 when they saw a vehicle going westbound on Highway 12 in Tay Township. As the vehicle was approaching the checkpoint, it allegedly did a three-point turn and then started travelling eastbound in the westbound lane facing oncoming traffic. OPP officers say they were able to pull over the vehicle at Ogden Beach Road. According to police, they could tell the driver, who was the 34-year-old woman, was showing signs she had been drinking, and when she did a breathalyzer test, she failed. When officers did more testing back at the station, the results showed she had more than the legal limit. The woman has been charged with impaired driving and dangerous operation along with a 90-day vehicle suspension and her vehicle has been impounded for seven days. The accused was released from custody and is expected to appear in court at a later date.
