Weekend storm damages Oro-Medonte boat launch

A weekend of heavy rain and strong winds along Lake Simcoe left parts of Oro-Medonte dealing with shoreline damage.

On Sunday, the Township of Oro-Medonte issued a public notice confirming that the Line 9 boat launch had sustained “significant damage” due to high winds and waves.

Municipal officials announced the closure of the launch until further notice, as they assess the damage and repairs.

Images posted on the town’s official social media account show that sections of the dock are missing decking and have exposed metal framework.

It remains unclear when the dock will reopen for public use.
