Wanted suspect arrested, more illicit drugs seized

Police arrested a wanted individual in Midland on Friday and seized a quantity of illicit drugs after further investigation.

According to Southern Georgian Bay OPP, a patrolling officer noticed a cab travelling north on King Street at around 10:30 a.m. with a passenger on board who was wanted on a detachment held judicial process.

The officer reportedly stopped the vehicle, arrested the wanted individual, and located a quantity of illicit drugs which were then seized.

Police say the seized items included a significant amount of suspected blue fentanyl, gold fentanyl, oxycodone Canadian cash and other drug paraphernalia.

The 49-year-old Elmvale suspect was charged with opioid possession and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking among other possession offences.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled for a future court date.
