It was a horrible way to start the week. Two men were arrested on charges of impaired driving in the wee hours of Monday morning. The first incident occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. Barrie police watched a car swerving “all over the road” on Lakeshore Drive between Tiffin Street and Minet’s Point Road. When they spoke with the driver, they saw empty cans of beer in the driver’s side door. The 43-year-old Woodville man was brought to the station where he blew nearly three-and-a-half times the legal limit. He faces impaired driving charges. A few hours later, the second alleged drunk driver was pulled over for driving without his lights on. When approaching the vehicle, the officer noted he smelled alcohol. A 23-year-old Barrie man now faces impaired driving charges. Police wish to remind motorists that if they plan to drink to plan ahead for a safe ride home. Call an Uber or a taxi, take public transit, organize a designated driver, or stay the night.
