The Township of Springwater is dealing with a significant winter storm that has created extremely hazardous road conditions across the municipality. Township officials are strongly urging residents and motorists to stay off the roads immediately and avoid all non-essential travel. An Emergency Alert was issued Tuesday morning, directing all non-emergency travel to be avoided as it could cause a serious threat to safety and security. Officials warn that travelling under current conditions puts motorists, emergency responders and crews at risk and interferes with snow clearing. Residents are also being asked to remove all garbage and recycling carts from sidewalks and roadways. Carts left in these areas may be damaged or displaced. If you’re stranded For motorists who become stranded in the area, the Elmvale Community Centre located at 33 Queen Street West is open as a warming centre and available as a place of shelter.
