Three men charged in Barrie human trafficking investigation

Barrie police have arrested three men in connection with a human trafficking investigation that began after a woman reported she had been allegedly coerced into the sex trade.

She came forward in September, and investigators believe there may be additional victims.

A 24-year-old man from Barrie and a 24-year-old man from Toronto are each charged with human trafficking, receiving a financial or material benefit from trafficking an adult, procuring or recruiting a person to provide sexual services, advertising another person’s sexual services, and receiving a material benefit from those services.

A 34-year-old Toronto man faces charges that include pointing a firearm, human trafficking, procuring or recruiting a person for sexual services, and possessing counterfeit currency.

Detectives from the human-trafficking unit worked closely with the Provincial Human Trafficking Intelligence-Led Joint Forces Strategy to bring the case to a close.
