Three charged in OPP and YRP drug trafficking investigation

Three suspects were arrested and are facing drug trafficking-related charges after multiple police units raided homes in Simcoe County and York Region.

The investigation

According to Southern Georgian Bay OPP, the detachment’s Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) began a drug trafficking investigation involving multiple people dating back to the fall of 2024.

This past Thursday, search warrants were executed at homes in Tiny Township and York Region, and a vehicle was stopped in Springwater Township.

The involved OPP units included the following:

• CSCU’s from the Collingwood, Orillia, Huronia West, Caledon and Nottawasaga detachments
• Tactics and Rescue Unit
• Emergency Response Team
• Canine Unit
• Central Region Intelligence Unit
• Frontline Uniform Members
• Offender Transport Unit

York Regional Police’s (YRP) Tactical Teams also assisted with the investigation.

Police say the responding officers seized multiple kilograms of suspected cocaine and crystal methamphetamine (valued at nearly $300,000) and other drug trafficking-related paraphernalia, including cell phones, cash, digital scales and a vacuum sealer.

The accused

A 33-year-old Tiny Township suspect was charged with trafficking a Schedule I substance (other drugs), Possession of cocaine and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000.

A 55-year-old Tiny Township suspect was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.

A 33-year-old Brampton suspect was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000, and failing to comply with a probation order.

The pair of Tiny Township accused were held pending a Friday bail hearing.

The Brampton accused was released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
