Suspicious death investigation underway in Kirkfield, Ont.

Provincial police are investigating what they are calling a suspicious death in a Kawartha Lakes village.

Police say officers were called to a Richmond Street West residence in Kirkfield around 4 a.m. on Thursday to find one person dead.

“Preliminary information suggests this is an isolated incident, with no signs of a broader threat,” Ontario Provincial Police stated in a news release.

Residents in the area should expect to see a heavy police presence as officers investigate the situation.

No details have been released about the victim or the cause of death. There is also no word on any arrests.

“Further information will be released as it becomes available,” police shared.
