Simcoe County-based aircraft soars over CNE

The PT-26 Cornell takes flight in the Canadian International Air Show in Toronto, Ont.

Labour Day Monday is the last day of this weekend’s annual Canadian International Air Show in Toronto, which features a performing aircraft from right here in Simcoe County.

A Simcoe Muskoka resident captured a photo of the bright yellow PT-26 Cornell as it soared above the Canadian National Exhibition grounds this weekend.

The PT-26 is an 82-year-old Second Word War trainer that is based at the Edenvale Classic Aircraft Foundation in Clearview Township.

This past week, CTV News spoke with Shawn Klish, the pilot flying the aircraft at this weekend’s air show.

“It’s going to be absolutely fantastic. A million people at the CNE and along the waterfront in Toronto. It’s an absolutely huge show and it’s great exposure for (the Edenvale Classic Aircraft Foundation),” said Klish in his interview with CTV News.

The last air show spectacle takes flight from noon until 3:40 p.m. on Monday.
