Crews have been working to restore power for thousands of Ontario residents who were blacked out this weekend by widespread outages across central areas of the province. According to Hydro One, here are the power restoration numbers for the following communities as of Monday morning: Bracebridge Huntsville Orangeville Parry Sound Penetanguishene Hydro One confirmed the outages were caused by severe winds Friday evening that brought down trees onto electrical equipment. “We thank customers for their patience as crews continue restoring power after strong winds impacted central, eastern and northeast Ontario,” said Hydro One in a Sunday social media update. “After a storm, we restore power in a way that brings service back to the greatest number of customers a quickly as possible. Crews must repair main lines and critical equipment before restoring lines that serve smaller numbers of customers.” The utility provider reminds residents to stay at least ten metres away from downed power lines and to report them to 1-800-434-1235. Generators should be used outside a household far away from windows or vents.
