An Owen Sound man is facing a number of charges after police say he was arrested two nights in a row.

Police say a call came in on Sunday from a resident who claimed their vehicle had been stolen by an intoxicated family member.

The driver and vehicle were later located in the city, but when attempting to perform a traffic stop, the driver fled, police say.

Owen Sound Police say the driver disobeyed traffic signals and drove at such a high rate of speed that he “posed a significant danger to himself and others on the street,” leading them not to pursue him.

Police claim the man was later seen on video, that same day, stealing alcohol from a local store.

When officers arrived on the scene, police say a foot pursuit began.

The man was ultimately arrested by officers.

On Monday, police say the same store called them again.

The man, according to police, had committed a second theft from the store.

When officers arrived, they found him a short distance from the store and arrested him again.

The man now faces nine criminal code offences, including theft of a motor vehicle, impaired operation, theft under $5,000 and assaulting a police officer.

Police say he also faces a number of charges under the Highway Traffic Act and the Liquor Licence Control Act.
