Ont. couple making plans with $50,000 lottery win

Ryan Desjardins and Meaghan Maloney of Port McNicoll won the WINTARIO50 prize worth $50,000 in the August 14, 2025 draw.

A couple from Port McNicoll is celebrating a $50,000 Wintario50 win.

Meaghan Maloney and Ryan Desjardins purchased the limited-time Wintario50 lottery ticket at the Esso on Highway 27 in Phelpston in August and were shocked when they learned they won one of the 100 top prizes.

“It’s pretty cool,” Desjardins added.

The duo had been playing the lottery together for about six years and said they had to double check their ticket several times before believing it was real.

Then they shared the news with their daughters. "There was lots of screaming,” Maloney recalled.

The pair plan to renovate their kitchen with their winnings.
