Newmarket driveway shooter busted

When shots rang out on an October night in Newmarket, cars, a garage door and a person took the bullets.

It was October 16 at around 1 p.m. when York Regional Police were called to Hewitt Circle and Plantation Gate about a shooting.

Vehicles and bricks aside, nobody inside the home was hurt that night.

However, one week later at 4:40 a.m., once again police rushed over to the same address and found a victim with a gunshot wound inside one of the cars.

They were immediately taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police quietly complete their investigation on March 4, and raided two homes, one each in Brampton and Mississauga.

Police found a firearm, high-capacity magazines and a quantity of a controlled substance.

One 18-year-old Mississauga man was arrested and faces a dozen charges, included attempted murder, discharging a firearm in a careless manner and possession of a loaded restricted firearm.
